About True Performance in Rancho Santa Fe, CA

One detailed evaluation, one plan built from what it finds, and a team that re-tests as you go.

Our story

How the clinic began

True Performance is a chiropractic- and rehabilitation-led clinic in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, founded and led by Dr. Jeff McWhorter, D.C. We focus on concussion recovery, chiropractic-based neurological rehabilitation and performance for athletes, active adults, and people working to regain balance, coordination, and movement after a stroke or head injury, often in coordination with their medical providers.

Why was True Performance started?

The clinic was founded to give people recovering from concussions and other complex injuries a more complete, individual path back. The idea grew from Dr. McWhorter's experience with six severe head traumas.

That history showed him how balance, vision, thinking and movement can stay affected long after an injury. So care here looks at the whole picture, not one symptom.

Where did the athlete work begin?

Before founding True Performance in Rancho Santa Fe, Dr. McWhorter served as a chiropractic consultant to the Denver Broncos, working with elite athletes to improve recovery and performance. You can meet the athletes we have worked with, named with their consent.

“I’ve firsthand been the patient and I’ve firsthand been the doctor in these cases.”

True Performance is really for anybody who strives to have longevity and their ability to perform. This can be beneficial to just about anybody who's aiming to improve how their brain and their body are functioning as a whole and how that relates to whether you're a pro athlete or an amateur athlete or a student or a CEO executive that wants to be sharper in the boardroom. My name is Dr. Jeff McWhorter. I'm the co-founder here at True Performance where we strive to help people achieve their optimal performance through neurological stimulation and chiropractic manipulation. The reason why I do what I do is because I've personally experienced six significant head traumas throughout my lifetime. It was really the catalyst that helped me strive to enhance the way that concussions and traumatic brain injuries were being treated. Concussion is probably my bread and butter. But what differentiates me from colleagues in this space is my ability to empathize with my patients due to the fact that I've firsthand been the patient and I've firsthand been the doctor in these cases. I can understand what it's like when your brain is not working as well as you'd like it to. As we say here, we align the spine and train the brain together. True Performance RSF.

How care works

One evaluation, one plan

Care starts with how your nervous system is working.

  1. One detailed evaluation

A close look at balance, visual processing, coordination, attention and reaction time, plus your history and goals.

  2. A plan built from your findings

Each plan is shaped around what the evaluation finds and what you want to get back to, not a template.

  3. Re-tested as you go

Progress is reviewed throughout care, and the plan changes with your function, tolerance and response.

Questions

Questions about True Performance

Ask us: (858) 285-0073

Who leads care at True Performance?

Dr. Jeff McWhorter, D.C., plans each rehabilitation program. Arsallan Ahmad, ND, a naturopathic doctor, provides IV therapy, vitamin injections and lab review. We coordinate with your physician, who stays responsible for your medical care.

Do you work with young athletes?

Yes. Dr. McWhorter partners with families, coaches, and athletic trainers on baseline concussion testing and structured, step-by-step return-to-play programs. Written clearance comes from a licensed health care provider, and we work as part of the athlete's return-to-play team.

Why do some patients travel here?

Some patients come from outside Southern California for concussion recovery and performance work. If that is you, plan a trip here for care.

How does payment work?

Your cost depends on your evaluation, the services in your plan and how many sessions it includes. We talk it through on your intro call, before you commit to anything.
