Fatigue and Energy Support in Rancho Santa Fe, CA

You wake up tired, fade by mid-afternoon and push through anyway. We look at what is draining your energy and which tests or services could help, with your physician in the loop.

The short answer

Fatigue is ongoing tiredness or low energy that ordinary rest does not relieve. At True Performance in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, we review sleep, stress, training, nutrition and medications. Then we use lab testing, vitamin IV therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy as wellness support, add concussion rehab after a head injury, and refer you when a medical cause comes first.

Overview

Why am I tired all the time?

Maybe you wake up unrefreshed, lose steam by the afternoon or find familiar tasks take more effort. Busy professionals, athletes and parents often keep going long after their energy has dropped.

Fatigue is a symptom, not a single condition. Sleep, stress, nutrition, hormones, medications and other health problems can all play a part.

What happens at your first visit?

We ask when the fatigue started, how it changes through the day and what else has shifted, from sleep and stress to training, medications and recent health changes.

That conversation guides what to gather next, often starting with lab work that adds context to your fatigue. Sometimes the right next step is your physician.

Understanding

What is fatigue?

Fatigue is a feeling of weariness, tiredness or lack of energy that does not lift with ordinary rest. It is a symptom rather than a disease. Common drivers include poor sleep, ongoing stress, anemia and other nutrient deficiencies, thyroid problems, depression, inactivity, persistent pain and some medications.

What is actually happening

  1. Sleep, stress, nutrition or health changes drain your reserves.

  2. Recovery falls behind the demands of work and training.

  3. Energy, focus and stamina drop, and rest stops helping.

Who this usually affects

  • Professionals running on too little recovery
  • Athletes whose training has stalled
  • Parents and caregivers with broken sleep
  • Adults who feel wired but tired

When it is something else

  • Fatigue with chest pain or palpitations: emergency care
  • Thoughts of harming yourself: get help right away
  • Sudden, severe exhaustion with confusion: urgent medical care

The re-check

We compare your energy, sleep and focus with your starting point. If a service is not helping, we stop it or change course.

Symptoms

Symptoms of fatigue

  • Persistent tiredness or low energy
  • Waking up unrefreshed
  • Trouble concentrating or thinking clearly
  • Lower stamina in exercise or daily tasks
  • Slower reaction time
  • Heavy or weak limbs
  • Afternoon energy crashes
  • Irritability or low stress tolerance
  • Needing more rest than usual
  • Falling behind on work or training

Causes

Common causes

Poor sleep

Short sleep, frequent waking and irregular hours leave you tired. Snoring, gasping or heavy daytime sleepiness should be checked for a sleep disorder.

Chronic stress

Long stretches of pressure from work, caregiving, travel or training can disrupt sleep and slow recovery.

Nutrient deficiencies

Low iron, vitamin B12 or folate can cause tiredness and weakness. Lab testing shows whether one is present, so it is never assumed.

Thyroid and hormone changes

An underactive thyroid is a common cause of fatigue, and other hormone changes can affect energy too.

Mood and medications

Depression, anxiety and some medications can leave you drained, so we ask about both.

An underactive thyroid is a common cause of fatigue, as Cleveland Clinic's overview of fatigue notes.

Our approach

How our care works

We approach fatigue by gathering useful information first, then choosing support that fits what we find. Care can combine lab testing, vitamin IV therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy as wellness support, concussion rehab when a head injury came first, and referral to your physician when a medical cause needs attention.

Red flags

When to seek care

Most fatigue builds slowly. Some signs need medical care right away.

  • Chest pain or heart palpitations
  • Confusion, dizziness or blurred vision
  • A severe headache with exhaustion
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
  • Little or no urine, or sudden swelling and weight gain

If you notice any of these, call 911 or go to the emergency room before anything else.

Questions

Questions about fatigue

Ask us: (858) 285-0073

What happens at a first visit for fatigue?

We discuss when the fatigue began, how it changes through the day, your sleep, activity, medications, health history and any recent lab work. Then we suggest selected testing, available wellness services or a visit with another provider.

Can fatigue care be combined with other services?

Yes, when more than one service fits. Lab testing adds context, while IV therapy or HBOT serve different wellness goals, timed around your history and response. Concussion rehab fits fatigue that began with a head injury.

How soon might my energy improve?

It depends on what is driving the fatigue and which service is used. Problems tied to sleep, stress, nutrition or a medical condition can take longer, and we review your response before adding sessions.

When is fatigue a reason to see a physician?

See a provider if tiredness lasts longer than a few days without a clear reason, comes on suddenly or comes with fever or unexplained weakness. We refer you when your history points to a medical cause.

Does insurance cover fatigue care here?

We explain cost and payment options on your complimentary intro call, before you book.
