Professional and serious athletes
Athletes come for balance, reaction time and visual training on tools such as GyroStim, our computer-guided motion chair, and to recover faster and perform better.
Patients travel to us from outside Southern California for concussion recovery and performance care. Here is how to plan the trip, from the first call to the flight home.
The short answer
True Performance is a chiropractic- and rehabilitation-led clinic in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, about 21 miles in a straight line from San Diego International Airport. Patients who travel in start with a complimentary 15-minute call, then a first visit of about 90 minutes, plus data and history gathering. We coordinate with your home physician before and after you come.
Who travels
Athletes come for balance, reaction time and visual training on tools such as GyroStim, our computer-guided motion chair, and to recover faster and perform better.
Headaches, dizziness or fog that have not settled weeks after a head injury. Our concussion rehab program for visiting patients tests each system and trains what is still off.
People working to regain balance, coordination, and movement after a stroke or head injury, often in coordination with their medical providers.
Parents who want a structured, step-by-step plan so their athlete returns to school and sport safely and with confidence.
Clinicians, athletic trainers and coaches can use our referral pathway for physicians and coaches.
Your visit
Tell us what happened, what you want back and your travel window. We explain whether we are a good fit before you book anything.
After you schedule, the clinic sends intake forms. Send any imaging reports and physician notes you have, so your first visit starts from your full history.
About 90 minutes, plus data and history gathering. The exam looks at balance, eye movement, coordination, reaction time and how your nervous system responds to load.
We explain the findings and a plan. Sessions are scheduled around the days you are here, and we tell you what to keep working on at home.
At home
Some of it can. Our remote program puts neurofeedback training equipment in your home, with weekly telehealth check-ins after your in-clinic start.
Cost
We do not publish one price, because every plan differs. These factors set the cost:

Before you choose
Before you travel anywhere for care, ask these questions. A good clinic answers them plainly.
You should know who examines you and what their training covers.
Look for named checks of balance, eye movement, reaction time and thinking, not a general talk.
Re-testing the same measures shows whether the plan is working.
Rehabilitation should sit alongside medical care, never replace it.
Published guidance says return to sport happens only with a health care provider's approval and supervision.
Ask what you will do at home and how follow-up works.
The CDC HEADS UP return-to-sports guidance says an athlete returns to practice only with the approval and under the supervision of their health care provider.
Getting here
Where to stay
Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad and Escondido all have hotels and short-term rentals within about 15 miles of the clinic. We do not recommend a specific hotel.
Ask us on the intro call which areas make the daily drive easiest for your schedule.
Your home team
Yes. With your permission, we request your records before you arrive and share our findings with your physician when you leave. Your home team stays in charge of your medical care.

Professional athletes train with us, including Christian McCaffrey, NFL running back, San Francisco 49ers. See the athletes who have trained with us, named with their consent.
The first step
It depends on your evaluation and your goals. We talk through your travel window on the intro call and plan the sessions around the days you can be here.
Yes. The intro call, your intake forms and your records all happen before the trip, so the first visit starts with your history already in hand.
Start with a physician, who checks for danger signs and confirms the injury. We are a chiropractic- and rehabilitation-led clinic, not a medical doctor's office, and we add rehabilitation alongside that medical care.
Most people with a concussion feel better within a couple of weeks. A rehabilitation clinic can help when symptoms linger, because it tests and trains the specific systems that are still struggling.
Before you leave, we set a home plan and a follow-up schedule. Some patients return for re-testing, and some continue neurofeedback remotely where it is available.
Yes. With your permission, we share findings and plans with your physician, so your care stays connected once you are home.
According to the CDC concussion signs and symptoms page, most people with a mild brain injury or concussion feel better within a couple of weeks.
