Neck stiffness
Neck movement lets you track the ball across a field, court or rink. When it is limited, we examine the neck before choosing drills, part of our care for neck stiffness that limits head turns.
Strength and conditioning build the engine. We train the brain side of your game: how fast you read the play, keep your balance and react under pressure.
Overview
You put in the lifting, the conditioning and the film work. Still, a defender reads the play first, or your timing slips late in a match.
Peak performance also depends on how fast your brain takes in what you see and turns it into movement. That is the part we train, as part of our performance care for serious athletes, alongside the work you do with your coaches.

What it is
Sports performance enhancement at True Performance is neurological training for athletes. After a baseline exam, we use tools such as DynaVision, GyroStim and neurofeedback to train reaction time, visual awareness, balance, coordination and focus. It complements strength and conditioning rather than replacing it.
A baseline exam measures your vision, balance, reaction and movement.
Training blocks target the skills your sport and position demand.
Re-tests show what changed and set the next block.
The re-check
We re-test the same measures at the end of each block. If a skill is not moving, we change the training or tell you where your time is better spent.
DynaVision is a light board that trains reaction time, peripheral awareness and decision speed. GyroStim is a computer-guided chair that challenges balance and spatial orientation. Neurofeedback trains focus and self-regulation, and chiropractic, laser and near-infrared care support recovery.
Conditions
Pain or stiffness can hold back performance work. We check these first and decide whether rehab should come before or alongside training.

Back pain can limit rotation, lifting and running. We look at back pain that affects rotation and lifting before loading it.
Sessions are adapted around muscle tightness that slows recovery.
We check stiff or sore joints under training load first.
Why here
DynaVision and GyroStim record accuracy and timing on every run. You see your numbers against your own baseline.
A goalie, a quarterback and a golfer need different skills. Drills match the visual and timing demands of your role.
Reaction training, balance work, neurofeedback and recovery care happen in one clinic, coordinated in one plan.
Is it for you
If the second list applies, we sort that out first, with your physician when needed.
Your visits
A complimentary call about your sport, position and goals.
About 90 minutes, plus data and history gathering. We test vision, balance, reaction time, coordination and movement.
Sessions combine DynaVision, GyroStim, neurofeedback or recovery care, chosen from your results.
We repeat the baseline measures and adjust the next block to what changed.

The clinic
Dr. Jeff McWhorter, D.C., a chiropractor whose practice focuses on functional neurology and performance, built this program around the idea that the brain is part of every athlete's game. Before founding True Performance in Rancho Santa Fe, Dr. McWhorter served as a chiropractic consultant to the Denver Broncos, working with elite athletes to improve recovery and performance.

The first step
No. Strength and conditioning build strength, speed, power and endurance. We train the visual, cognitive and balance skills behind execution, and it fits alongside your coach's program.
Student athletes, recreational competitors and professionals who want to work on reaction time, balance, visual processing or decisions. Plans are set to your sport, position and level.
It depends on the injury and your symptoms. We assess you first and decide whether rehab should come before performance work.
We explain cost and payment options on your intro call, before you book an exam. The total depends on the length of your training block.
About 90 minutes of testing, plus data and history gathering, covering vision, balance, reaction and movement. We then explain which skills to train first and which tools we will use.
